How To See The Reiki In the Trees

Art by Deborah Moen RMT  ReikiBasics.blogspot.com

This is a painting I created yesterday for students who have not yet connected to Nature as a source of Reiki practice. I have an activity in my Reiki classes where I ask the students to experience the energy emanating from the tops of the trees. Many students delight in seeing this for the first time. It is easy, just soften or relax your eyes and include your peripheral vision.  Let it come into view. There is no trying. Trying will tense up your eyes muscles. Just take the time and look with Reiki eyes. It looks different to everyone but for me it is a smokey vibrating spiked energy that shoots off of the tips of the leaves like a silver crown. Some can say it looks like a swarm of gnats. Early morning  and late afternoon is the best time for me to see it. I look west or east away from the setting or rising sun over the tops of trees.

We may be working inside all day stuck in a cubicle or just too busy to take time to get to know Nature. Nature is such a great teacher. This activity brings our awareness of life and energy even closer. We can feel connected to nature and communicate or meditate within it daily.

A Chinese Monk Once Said

A Chinese monk once said:

" When your mind is transparent and pure, as if reflected on the mirror-like surface of the water, there will be nothing in this world you would dislike.
When it is serene as the light breeze in the sunshine there would be no one you would like to forget."

I took this picture last Sunday. We were deep in the forest and came upon this magical lake so fitting for the image of this quote ♥

Reiki Principles All Lead To Love

Art by Deborah Moen RMT

Just for today I will let go of anger, I will be kind to every person and every living thing.

My grandson is 14 soon to be 15 and the generation gap was widening. It seemed an impossibility at the time, but I knew that phrase ` Ask and it is given ` so I did ask last night before going to sleep. I asked my higher self "How can I help close that gap and harmonize with him?"

He had a sore neck muscle that he has been complaining about yet resistant to any help on it. It occurred to me that some of us need our aches and injuries for awhile. Perhaps for attention, or for rest, or love and affection.

I just plain asked him if he would he like some love and attention and a big smile came over his face. We decided to play a simple and ancient game together called Mancala with stones. It was the perfect meeting ground for us. I asked for help to remember how to play and his beautiful and patient teaching skills came pouring through. We talked about how he and I played games when he was younger. He and I smiled in memory of it. I noticed what coordination it took for my fingers to manipulate the tiny stones and marveled at how he did it so swiftly and accurately. After the game, he showed me how he handles the manipulation of his fingers and controls on his XBox games. I was amazed at his skill and the dramatic music streaming out of my headphones and terrain so lifelike. This was a miracle leap from my perception of X BOX before.

The Principles can really lead us to harmony and understanding through love. It isn't easy sometimes to use them, but when we are ready they are great remedies to many of life's challenges. Oh, by the way? The neck injury has taken a turn for the better. ♥ LOVE ♥ It heals all wounds ♥

Reiki's 5 Precepts

Just for today:

I will let go of worry
I will let go of anger
I will do my work honestly
I will give thanks for my many blessings
I will be kind to every living thing

HOW I LEARNED THE REIKI SYMBOLS

Today when I think of Reiki symbols, I smile.

I remember learning them in a small cozy camper on a vacation in Oregon. We were in a beautiful wilderness. It was raining and my husband was salmon fishing with a guide on the Rogue River. I pulled out my manual and my pad of drawing paper. I personally learned the symbols by drawing them and writing the meanings till they become familiar. It was no different than learning to ride my first 2 wheel bike. I just kept at it till I could form the symbols without looking. It is a discipline that I enjoyed. Not everyone learns this way.  What was your experience with learning the symbols?

What was your experience?

Seijaku

The Reiki State may be serene...tranquil
The Reiki state may be compared to a Zen principle called Seijaku.

Seijaku (静寂)Tranquility or an energized calm (quite), stillness, solitude. This is related to the feeling you may have when entering a Japanese garden. The opposite feeling to one expressed by seijaku would be noise and disturbance.

One can experience the influence of Seijaku during their Reiki practice when the mind is quiet and serene like the stillness of the full moon beaming bright.

The more we practice the more we understand the activity coming forth from tranquility.

Reiki Rescue-Anxiety, Fear and Panic

This method is very good for calming the mind and body. You will be surprised how soothing it is to place your hands on your own head. When we become fearful, anxious or panicky, placing one hand on the forehead and the other on the back of the head right on that ridge or occipital ridge
can really take that stressful edge off and send relaxing waves of comfort through the mind and body.

When we get anxious, fearful, rushed we go into a stress response commonly referred to as fight or flight. Our body prepares fror a reaction and our precious functions like digestion, immune system, and even clear thinking goes to the waste side. Blood rushes to our limbs for running and to our muscles for fighting. Placing your hands this way brings the blood back into the cortex so you can think more clearly and also resets the reaction to a relaxation response where your body functions and brain and emotions can return to balance.

While in this position relax your shoulders and take a few deep breaths. Also placing your awareness on the where the hands are touching helps you go within to ground you and give you peace. It is a mind body connection. The attention we have been giving to situations that trigger anxiety or stress will melt away giving your mind time to disconnect and begin the relaxation response. Enjoy the relief you are experiencing.  If holding your arms up is uncomfortable you can place your arms on your lap to do this hold. Use a pillow on your lap or a table to make it comfortable for you.

When you feel relaxed let go and feel the relief and peace. Relax slowly, one at a time; your face, jaw, tongue,  shoulders,  chest,  belly,  hips, legs, ankles and feet. Feel your feet on the floor beneath you. Enjoy the sensations of relief and calm.

This is wonderful self care and may also be shared with clients, family or friends.

To treat another person, have the person you are assisting sit in a chair. Stand on the right or left side of the person, place one hand lightly on their forehead and the other hand lightly on the back of the head. Be sure to become relaxed while you are assisting others. Soft hands, relaxed shoulders, calm mind will enhance the whole experience by creating an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. Doing this exercise before treating others is very beneficial for both you and the other person.

Non-Traditional Self Reiki-Other Hand Positions

Reiki self-care on shoulder joint and solar plexus.
www.reikibasics.blogspot.com
The great spiritual teacher, Lazarus, said that a great healer was one who got really ill and healed him or her self.

Reiki is a wonderful technique to carry along in your Well-Being Toolbox. It is easy to use and does not require anything but your comforting hands. For traditional Reiki hand positions please see my Self Treatment Page with video.

Reiki is so easy to use.  I practice Reiki right before I go to sleep at night and when I awaken in the morning. I use a pillow to support my arms. Placing my hands on my heart, solar plexus or lower abdomen or hips is very easy. I can feel the warmth and relief and relaxation flow through me. Reiki self-care can help me have a peaceful sleep as well as make my day more relaxed and easy going.

You can prepare by using your Reiki symbols (optional) Lie down and place your hands on your body. You can use traditional hand positions or non-traditional hand placements. While you feel the touch of your hands on the body also become conscious of your breath and observe it flowing in and out for awhile. Enjoy how your body feels more relaxed. The act of placing your hands on your body and following your breath has brought you inward where all the outer influences have quieted down. Letting go of your day and going inward is so relaxing and peaceful. It also allows your mind and body to repair, release and rejuvenate.

Here are some Non-traditional hand positions:

Reiki self care is very soothing. Hand on hip and knee.

Insomnia is so frustrating and depletes us mentally, physically and emotionally. Sleep regenerates neurons* that enable the brain to function at it's best.  We mustn't mess with our neurons so I use Reiki to ease and relax my  mind. I lie on my side and place either hand (which ever is easiest) over my forehead.  My palm is on my third eye and my fingers drape gently over the top of my head. You will find this position to be very soothing. Allow your mind to latch onto that initial comforting sensation, With this sort of mind body practice and disengaging from tension you may find this a great relief and fall gently asleep. One can use a pillow to prop up the elbow if needed for comfort.

Reiki puts me right to sleep.
It feels so soothing.

40% of Americans are afflicted with insomnia due to daily stress.

FYI : Oddly enough the third eye has been believed by ancient man as having an energetic connection to the pineal gland in the brain. The pineal gland secrets melatonin and influences our sleep-wake cycles.

* Neurons are nerve cells which are electrically excitable and processes and transmits information by electrical and chemical signaling.

For traditional Reiki hand positions please see my Self Treatment Page with video.

Gall Stones And The Water Blessing

There are many rituals and ceremonies and methods of blessing our water. I learned the following method from my Feng Shui teacher Master Rev. Elnathan Batoon.

About 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with gall stones and scheduled for surgery. My teacher came to visit me with a liter sized bottle of Fuji water. He sat on the couch and instructed me how to use it.

Blessing Water Instructions # 1
  1. He wrote the words "healing" on the bottle.

  2. He told me to cover the Fuji bottle of water in a green cloth ( Feng Shui uses the color green for healing).

  3.  Let it marinate overnight.

  4. I was then instructed to take a sip of it every day before and after my surgery.

  5. When it got down to 1/4 full, I was to replenish the water with distilled water.

Meanwhile

I know my teachers were daily practicing Reiki healing and included me in their prayers. I also wrote down Louis Hay's affirmation for healing my body and read it continuously while on the gurney waiting for surgery. The surgeons and anesthesiologist thought it was a 'cute' thing to do.

Results

My results shocked my doctors. I required no pain medication after the first 2 hours of surgery or anytime thereafter. I recovered so quickly that when I went in for my first check up the doctor took a look at where my incisions were and walked backwards with mouth open. "Well, let's say you heal faster than most" he uttered. The cleared his throat and said I could go.

Conclusion

Now that I have learned that water reflects our emotions through Dr. Emoto's book Hidden Messages From Water, experiments and study, I know can intend  communicate with the water. Water is listening and this even applies to the cells in our body and the water in the ocean, and everywhere there is water listening.

Louis Hay Affirmation From her book You Can heal Your Life
Good for after diagnosis, before medical procedures

"In the Infinity of life where I am, all is perfect whole and complete. I recognize my body as a good friend. Each cell in my body has a divine intelligence. I listen to what it tells me, and know that it's advice is valid. I am safe, divinely guided. I am always in my right place. I chose to be healthy and free. I now send ahead helpful energy to my doctors and assistants and other staff to bring about a successful outcome for my treatment. I repeat these affirmations with faith and gratitude and bless my body. Every hand that touches me is a healing hand and expresses only love. My procedure goes quickly and easily and perfectly. All is well in my world." ~ Louis Hay
