Reiki Principles All Lead To Love

Just for today I will let go of anger, I will be kind to every person and every living thing.

My grandson is 14 soon to be 15 and the generation gap was widening. It seemed an impossibility at the time, but I knew that phrase ` Ask and it is given ` so I did ask last night before going to sleep. I asked my higher self "How can I help close that gap and harmonize with him?"

He had a sore neck muscle that he has been complaining about yet resistant to any help on it. It occurred to me that some of us need our aches and injuries for awhile. Perhaps for attention, or for rest, or love and affection.

I just plain asked him if he would he like some love and attention and a big smile came over his face. We decided to play a simple and ancient game together called Mancala with stones. It was the perfect meeting ground for us. I asked for help to remember how to play and his beautiful and patient teaching skills came pouring through. We talked about how he and I played games when he was younger. He and I smiled in memory of it. I noticed what coordination it took for my fingers to manipulate the tiny stones and marveled at how he did it so swiftly and accurately. After the game, he showed me how he handles the manipulation of his fingers and controls on his XBox games. I was amazed at his skill and the dramatic music streaming out of my headphones and terrain so lifelike. This was a miracle leap from my perception of X BOX before.

The Principles can really lead us to harmony and understanding through love. It isn't easy sometimes to use them, but when we are ready they are great remedies to many of life's challenges. Oh, by the way? The neck injury has taken a turn for the better. ♥ LOVE ♥ It heals all wounds ♥

Reiki's 5 Precepts

Just for today:

I will let go of worry
I will let go of anger
I will do my work honestly
I will give thanks for my many blessings
I will be kind to every living thing

HOW I LEARNED THE REIKI SYMBOLS

Today when I think of Reiki symbols, I smile.

I remember learning them in a small cozy camper on a vacation in Oregon. We were in a beautiful wilderness. It was raining and my husband was salmon fishing with a guide on the Rogue River. I pulled out my manual and my pad of drawing paper. I personally learned the symbols by drawing them and writing the meanings till they become familiar. It was no different than learning to ride my first 2 wheel bike. I just kept at it till I could form the symbols without looking. It is a discipline that I enjoyed. Not everyone learns this way.  What was your experience with learning the symbols?
